Description
One of the words on the lips of many in the world today is the word ‘Change’. Though the word recently began to be in much use, but change itself has always been a constant phenomenon since the beginning of our world. We can say every other thing apart from God has been subject to change.
A look around us shows that many things are no longer the way they were some 5-10 years ago. The 21st Century world is changing fast. A man who has been in isolation for 10 years, will obviously come out to see a world totally different from the one he left. This was much alluded to by the Sociologist, Peter L. Berger, who in his book Invitation to Sociology, opined that ‘we live in an ever changing kaleidoscope of human society’. If change is ever present, then we must seek to properly understand what change is. As human beings, we get a new skeleton every seven years. Our bone marrow is constantly creating new bone, and we are sloughing off old cells so that our skeleton can grow with our body.
Truly, change is what we seek most, but the processes of it can be challenging experientially. Change truly comes in lovely attire, but its process may be full of thorns. To be sure the thorns are the necessary sine qua non to the blessings. Many people like Job of old (Job 14:14) declare, ‘If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.’ For most people who seek change they really don’t know what they seek; for they do not understand the initial effects of the process of true change.
